Australian Traditional Dance Tunebook, Volume 1 Product Id: BOOK1 Over 185 set tunes, jigs, reels, polkas, marzurkas, waltzes, varsovianas, schottisches, hornpipes traditional Australian bush dances. This tunebook is part of a larger project by the Wongawilli Colonial Dance Club Inc. in its ongoing aim to present Australian traditional folk dance and music. The tunes are arranged in sets suitable for the suggested dances. These sets can also be used for other similiar structured dances in regards to numbers of bars and repetitions. The majority of the tunes used are authentic tunes collected from older dance musicians by folklorists since the early 1950s. Many thanks to the following collectors for sharing the music - John Meredith, Rob Willis, Alan Musgrove, Dave de Hugard, Mike Martin, Brad Tate, Chris Sullivan, Mark Rummery, Mark and Maria Schuster and Peter Ellis. Australian Traditional Dance Tunebook, Volume 2 Product Id: BOOK2 This is the second comprehensive collection of Australian dance tunes collected from various sources. The book is based upon Jane Brownlee and David De Santi's 2004 National Library Folk Festival Fellowship which allowed them to unearth over 50 new 'old' tunes. This book includes 179 set tunes, polkas, reels, jigs, mazurkas, waltzes, schottisches and varsovianas. Instructions for 20 bush dances have also been included and a large article by Peter Ellis on traditional music forms in Australia. 51 of the tunes have been recorded on a CD by Jane and David called by the same name and a subtitle - A Swag of Treasures. Dance enthusiasts will understand the manifold variations and differences in dances like Quadrilles, Alberts, Lancers, Exions, Caledonians, Fitzroys, Waltzes, Gallops, etc, and the many variations and origins within these groups. Swag of Treasures - Australian Traditional Dance Tunes, Volume 2, 51 tunes in 13 ses Product Id: CD2 51 Australian dance tunes arranged into 14 sets. In general they are played 8 times and are 32 bars in length each time. There is music included for reels, jigs, polka, mazurka, schottische, varsoviana and waltz folk dances.
This recording compiled by Jane Brownlee and David De Santi as part of their National Library of Australia / National Folk Festival Fellowship has provided the opportunity to discover further musical treasures within the NLA?s Folklore Collection. There are a swag of musicians and tunes recorded in the Collection and Jane and David have only dug a little way in but due to their effort have found some distinctive and interesting tunes! This recording is the culmination of the process of finding the tune, transcribing a version (at times there were several versions played) and then arranging them into a musical form for traditional bush / folk dances.
This recording has been produced as part of the Wongawilli Colonial Dance Club Inc aims to promote, perform and preserve Australian traditional music. Volume 1 of dance tunes includes 85 tunes on 2 CDs arranged in 23 sets for dances. AUD $25.00Quantity:

Live at the Local, Wongawilli Product Id: CD3 Pubs have the been the lifeblood of Australian towns since European settlement. Many towns grew around the establishment of 'snuggeries', shanties, saloons and sly-grog tents. Over the years the pub became a location for a yarn, a song, colourful language, folklore creation and the great Australian tradition of shouting. The pub became known also as 'the local' and 'the office'.
The Jamberoo Valley, situated west of Kiama on the South Coast of NSW, used to have four pubs last century. This was to service the large amount of timber-getters and farmers in the area. The only remaining pub is now known as the Jamberoo Pub, but originally was the Commercial Hotel and was established in 1857. It is a family oriented pub and still an integral part of the village of Jamberoo. It has long been associated with presenting Australian bush and folk music over the years.
The band plays regularly at Jamberoo Pub, and 'Live at the Local' was recorded over two nights in May 1999.

Marshall Mount Merrymakers - 50 Years of Old Time Dance Music Product Id: CD6 Led by piano accordionist Arthur Bowley, the Marshall Mount Merry Makers have been making merry old time dance music since 1953 at the fortnightly Old Time Dance at Marshall Mount on the South Coast of New South Wales. Fiddler on the Rocks - Jane Brownlee Product Id: CD9 This recording of Australian music bridges the old and the new. Many of the tunes are from a rich storehouse of authentic recordings of older performers collected over a period of 50 years presented in a fresh and lively manner.
This is a CD of fiddle music ... but not quite like you hear from the average bush band. For a start, it is almost all traditional collected music from old Australian players ... but then it is not interpreted from a dry-as-dust historical perspective or limited by the performance of old players being recorded before their music "disappears for ever". This is played by a skilful and innovative player, drawing on the disciplines of classical music and teaching skills, combined with a love of the fine old music she has heard around her.
